* Mix 6 drops of the Companion oil(s) listed for your plant to 2 gallons of warm water and let it cool. Then, fill a watering container ½ way with the mixture and top off with cold water. Stir this new mixture and water your plant as usual.

** Citrus oils will eat away at plastic! Some additional ways in which you can apply oils to your plants for the purpose of bug deterrent such as:

– Sprays: Mix 4-8 drops of oil per gallon of water (make sure to use a glass container for citrus oils)

– Add 1 drop of oil to a strip of cloth and hang from a branch, using multiple strips to cover desired area

– Add 4 drops of oil to a cotton ball and place in small cartons (e.g., yogurt containers). Bury these in the ground, keeping the top level with the soil.

– Soak a string in a solution of water and a few drops of oil then string between plants to deter flying insects
